School Quality Management Training in Dili, Timor Leste

Qatar Charity (QC) conducted quality management training schools in Dili, Timor Leste. Taking place from 27-29 September 2013, the training was followed by 19 participants from three schools. This was one of a series of training for teachers and school management within Timor Leste education project.

 

QC considers that to improve education is not merely by providing physical facilities. There is something more important, that is to build the capacities of actors who play important roles in teaching and learning process. Namely, teachers, school management and members of school foundation, and students. 

Accordingly, the education project of QC in Timor Leste includes three main activities:

1.To construct and provide education facilities

2.To build teachers and school management capacities through a series of training

3.To provide scholarship for in need smart students  

In all countries, as well as in developed countries, improving school quality is always be important issue in education world. School, especially teachers and management, most of the time are always be the first group highlighted and seen by community as the responsible for any matters. Whereas, it is a shared and joint responsibility of all members of community. 

Participants were discussing with the instructorsTherefore, QC is happy to deeply participate in improving education in Timor Leste. Through a series of trainings for teachers and school management, QC hopes this activity will encourage a better atmosphere and great cooperation between teachers and school management. 

During the school management training, participants were directed by three instructors of the YPP Salman ITB, Bandung. Through lecturing, games, workshops, and discussions methods, participants were given an understanding on how to set vision and mission and how to make school quality improvement plan based on the vision and mission they have set.

One of the participants said that the school quality management is scarce training they never got it before. Some private schools ever conducted at their own cost and the participants were limited to their own teachers

"We are lucky to follow this training free of charge," said Louis.
