QC Ended Capacity Building Project in Timor Leste

Qatar Charity conducted closing ceremony of capacity building project for teachers in Dili, Timor Leste, on 17 August 2014. Country Director of Indonesia office, Karam Zeinhom Hassan Aly, chairman of An-Nur Foundation and headmasters attended the event.

This ceremony marked the completion of a series of trainings undertaken by teachers since September 2013 Overall, there were 9 trainings they have joined. A total of 91 teachers and school administrators become direct beneficiaries of this program, while about 1900 students get indirect benefits.

"QC is happy to deeply participate in improving education in Timor Leste. Through a series of trainings for teachers and school management, QC hopes this activity will encourage a better atmosphere and great cooperation between teachers and school management," said the Country Director in his speech. 

"All knowledge and skills shared by trainers will also useless if teachers do not implement them in learning teaching activities. Students are now waiting for you to aplly what you got from series of trainings," he added.

Beside, based on result of monitoring and evaluation from one to another trainings, QC rewarded 5 best participants. QC also distributed certificates to all participants. 

Prior to the closing ceremony, QC also conducted the last two trainings respectively, namely creative science teachers and teacher competence in math from 11-13 August and 15-17 August at Beach Garden Hotel conference room, Dili.

Maria Josefina Soriano, one of participants said that the trainings makes her teaching methods become more interactive and involve teachers in learning process. The students themselves become more creative.

"The class become alive and I feel much closer with students and understand them more," she added.
